Small Producers Workshop: February 28, 2026

On Saturday, February 28, 2026 the Verde NRCD held a “Small Producers Workshop” designed to assist aspiring and existing farmers and ranchers maximize the potential of their operations.

The program was divided into two sections, the first titled “Rules, Regs and the Role of Agriculture in Town and County featured Yavapai County Supervisor Nikki Check, Yavapai County Assessor Judd Simmons and Miranda Fisher, Manager, Town of Camp Verde.

Part Two offered real world support, education and resources for the attendees including speakers from Camptown Greens, Local First Arizona and Friends of the Farm.

Verde NRCD Local Work Group

The Verde Local Work Group held on April 19, 2024, focused on Conservation Planning in the Verde Valley. Panelists in the first session included Sharma Torrens representing Central Arizona Land Trust, appraiser Paul Groseta and Jodi Norris of The Nature Conservancy. The second panel, ably moderated by Matt Halldorson from Yavapai County Cooperative Extension focused on local Conservation efforts and included panelists: John Ford TNC, Sierra Frydenlund, soil conservationist from the Flagstaff office of the Natural Resource Conservation Service and Chip Norton, Chairman of the Verde NRCD.
