Summary of the VERDE NRCD 2016 Local Work Group Meeting

The Verde Natural Resource Conservation District sponsored the 2016 Local Work Group meeting in the Town of Camp Verde.  The meeting was advertised through press releases and e-mailed and mailed communication to local cooperators and community leaders.  The meeting was held in room 204 of the Parks and Recreation building on Feb 26. The Local Work Group meeting was designed to bring together local producers and community leaders to determine their resource concerns and help guide Verde Natural Resource Conservation District efforts in the future. The meeting was attended by 16 people.

The meeting began at 1:00PM with a “Welcome and Introductions” speech from Jodi Allen, the Chair of the Verde Natural Resource Conservation District. This was followed by a presentation of the Regional Conservation Partnership Program by Kim Schonek of The Nature Conservancy and the Verde Natural Resource Conservation District’s 5 Year plan by NRCD Supervisor Chip Norton. Then, Shai Schendel, the NRCS District Conservationist discussed the role of the Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Local Work Group. Following Shai Schendel’s talk, Alison Hatch, NRCS State Agronomist presented information about Irrigation Water Management.

Following a 15 minute break, input was received from the attendees regarding their resource concerns. The final activity was to prioritize the resource concerns of the attendees. The Local Work Group meeting concluded at 3:30.
